Why do you get out of bed in the morning?

We believe that we all got into this field because we truly want to help better the lives of those living in the community with developmental disabilities. That’s what led our team members to begin work assisting state departments transition these individuals out of institutional settings to community residence. This work allowed us to leverage our wealth of clinical skills and knowledge with a passion for education and training to make a real difference in the lives of those we helped transition out of the state hospitals.

This work came with its challenges and speed bumps. One of the largest obstacles was the lack of clinical professionals in the community who felt comfortable or competent treating adults with developmental disabilities. We ran into this problem almost daily. Then it hit us like a ton of bricks: someone needs to offer training and resources to help these awesome clinicians have the impact they want to see in their patients’ lives.

That’s why we started Brighter Futures. We envision a world where everyone belongs in the community and where competent clinical professionals are there to help individuals with disabilities thrive.
